don we now our gay apparel
One week before Christmas, Erin {the little blonde} and I drove to Lexington, KY for the Second Annual Hanukkah Extravaganza. My friend Marc {in the snowman vest} hosted nine guests and one puppy in his apartment for a Jewish brisket, a holiday power hour, and an unforgettable night on the town.
Why I would drive six and half hours to be in a place for less than twenty-four hours? Simple, I...

eat, drink, and remarry
Last weekend, after the holiday party and before the bears game, I attended a family friend’s wedding. My Dad has been best friends with Bill since they met on the golf course thirty years ago. Ten years ago, Bill met Mimi. And one week ago, they tied the knot. Bill looked svelte (he lost over 20 lbs for the big day) and Mimi was stunning in her show-stopping gown… Seriously, it...

bundle up & bear down
Caitlin’s family has season tickets for many of the Chicago sports teams and this Sunday she invited me to the Bears vs. Patriots game. Here’s what I wore to prepare for the below zero temperatures: my new hat, scarf, down jacket, one of my dad’s old cashmere sweaters, miami sweatshirt, bears thermal long sleeve shirt, underarmour, gloves with handwarmers, three layers of...
a christmas pageant
I had an early flight home Sunday morning because I wanted to make it to this year’s Christmas pageant. My four closest friends and I were in our town’s Christmas pageant from the time we were in kindergarten to senior year of high school. We started out as pink angels and danced our way up to blue angels. Our senior year, both Abby and Caitlin played Gabriel, Eden was dancing Mary,...

weekend recap ~ maryland edition
This past weekend, I went to visit Colin in Maryland {he moved back home after he finished working at the Olympic National Park in September}. On Thursday we drove down to D.C. to catch a matinee viewing of Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center. We had both seen the play before, nearly ten years ago, and while the essence of the story has stayed the same it’s obvious they update the dialogue...

all american girl
Abby bought her niece her first American Girl doll for Christmas, which is how this catalog ended up in our mailbox today. Oh, the memories… how could I not take a little gander? Between my three sisters and I we had all the original dolls: Samantha, Kirsten, Molly, and Felicity. You can imagine my shock when I saw they didn’t feature the first two and will soon be retiring both of...

oldies, but goodies
I lost my phone over two weeks ago & since I’ve been too busy {read: lazy} to go buy a new one, I’ve been using my Mom’s old one. Most of the time I hate it. The battery life is a joke, it runs incredible slow, and the camera is nowhere near as nice as my previous one. However, there is one massive perk to carrying this bad boy around with me: her music. Each morning I get to listen to The...

And it’s snowing outside right now, in giant light flakes that are holding to the ground.
I’m not going to lie- the first snow -it’s kind of magical.
I haven’t seen snow in almost two years. Magical just about covers it.
ribbit, rabbit!
On the first day of every month, for as long as I can remember, the first words out of my mouth are always, “Ribbit, rabbit!”
It’s for good luck.
