What I Wore: The transpacific flight edition
{scarf: anthropologie // cardigan: splendid // t-shirt: j.crew // jeans: ag // shoes: toms // watch: michael kors // tote: marc by marc jacobs}
Dressing for a 16+ hour flight can be a challenge. Sure, most of the time you’re just trying to recline as far back as your seat will allow, doing your best to ignore the loud snores drumming out of the man in the next seat over so you too can get some shut eye… What I’m saying is most of the time it doesn’t matter what you look like just as long as you’re comfortable. But for those few hours before take off, during the layover, and until you reach the hotel at your final destination, I’d personally prefer to look presentable.
I ended up wearing my favorite pair of skinny jeans, they have just the right combination of denim and stretch so that you can be comfortable on your flight and look chic when you’re not. On top, I wore a comfy gray t-shirt along with a white cardigan (pictured here). Because I’m always cold on planes and never trust where those airline blankets have been I brought my own, a beige and white throw I got on sale at Anthropologie, which doubled as a scarf on my way to the airport.
A few days before my trip, I bought a new pair of Toms because the glitterized version I already owned seemed a bit flashy for visiting ancient temples and walking around the streets of Thailand. This pair goes with almost everything and being able to slip them on and off made it getting through security a total breeze.
Finally, I carried my colorful nylon tote that I bought two summers back as a beach bag. It’s large enough to hold my laptop, has two outside pockets where I keep my camera and water bottle, a magnetic closure, and inside pocket that zippers for important documents like my passport. I wore minimal jewelry, an initial pendant my parents gave me for Christmas and this watch, which I switched to local Bangkok time as soon as I got settled in my seat.
Clearly, I put a lot of thought into my outfit. It was well worth the effort; I was 100% comfortable during both my flights and felt as stylish as these ladies.
Mission accomplished!
