After a short ride on a riverboat along the Chao Phraya, we arrived in Chinatown. It felt like a different world. So many people. So many smells. So much to see. There was a recommended walking tour in the Let’s Go Thailand book, but we agreed that just wouldn’t do. And so instead, we wandered.
We wandered through the market stalls that sold everything from fresh seafood, Chinese lanterns, and flowers to Indian textiles, artwork, and cold fruity drinks. We wandered into Leng Noi Yee Temple, silently watching as Buddhists burned incense while they prayed and left flowers or oranges as offerings. We wandered all day long through crowds, heat, and traffic until we were overstimulated to the point of exhaustion. Then we wandered back home.
